Traveling Green at

Westward Look Resort

At Westward Look Resort, the surrounding environment is at the heart of your experience. As Tucson’s first resort, our resort staff, from housekeeping to management, is intent on maintaining and enhancing the integrity of the native area.

To help protect our precious natural surroundings, we have implemented a series of green initiatives, designed to reduce the negative effects on the environment as well as highlight the culture, tradition and beauty of the Sonoran Desert.

Discover the many ways Westward Look is going green:

General
• Resort recycles cardboard, office paper, newspaper, plastic, aluminum and steel cans, toners, and light bulbs
• Energy efficient lighting (CFLs) used in all guest rooms
• Recycling containers available to the public
• Towel re-use program in all guest rooms
• Low flow and automatic flush toilets to conserve water
• Energy efficient lighting and timers
• Programmable thermostats in guest rooms
• Use of post consumer recycled paper goods

Culinary
• The culinary team composts all compostable matter, employing a “no veggie waste” policy so no vegetable trimmings are wasted
All composted matter is re-used for gardening purposes
• Many fruits and vegetables, including native produce, are harvested in the resort’s on site Chef’s Garden and used in resort menus
• Purchase locally as much as possible to support local growers and reduce transportation emissions
• Culinary team writes menus based on the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch list, ensuring our oceans are protected.

Spa
• All packages and supplies are recycled; paper is reused
• Many spa products are focused on being eco-friendly, natural and organic, making them good for the body and the environment.
• The Sonoran Spa is proud to support eco-inspired organizations, like Water for the People, through charitable events. Water for the People has a vision of providing clean water for people worldwide.
