Westward Look Takes Fight Against Hunger to the Tennis Courts
Resort’s “Serving for Soup” event turns tennis serves into donations for local women’s and children’s shelter
Tucson, AZ (09/16/11) – On Sunday, September 25th, Westward Look Resort will play host to Serving for Soup, a charitable tennis event benefitting the New Beginnings for Women and Children shelter. The event will take place from 7am to 6pm on the Westward Look tennis courts, located at 245 E. Ina Road in Tucson.
Teams of two are encouraged to ask friends, family, co-workers and other generous neighbors to either pledge a specified amount for each ball served in during a given time period or to pledge a flat donation.
Then, during the Sunday event, teams will hit serves back and forth to each other on one of the resort’s newly refurbished tennis courts to raise as many funds as possible for Tucson’s New Beginnings shelter. They event will also boast a “fast serve” court with a speed clock to record the fastest serve.
No teammate? No worries. Westward Look will pair up those individuals without a teammate. Come out and swing for a great cause!
New Beginnings for Women and Children assists homeless women and children by providing housing, support services, and growth opportunities for creating financially independent families. New Beginnings helps families in need set goals and overcome barriers to achieve self-sufficiency. The shelter’s doors first opened in 1987 to accommodate the needs of four mothers and their children. Today New Beginnings’ facilities serve over 200 women and more than 350 children each year. For more information about this event, please call Westward Look’s Director of Tennis, Tom Lepisto at 917-2466.
