Westward Look Celebrates 100th Anniversary at Centenarian Brunch

Tucson resort to celebrate Arizona’s 100th birthday with other centenarians at Arizona Centennial Signature Event

Tucson, AZ (1/23/12) – Westward Look Resort, Tucson’s first and finest resort, will join a select group of citizens, companies and non-profits at the Centenarian Brunch on Statehood Day, February 14, 2012. The brunch is a birthday celebration to honor Arizona’s centenarian citizens and organizations that have been doing business in the state for 100 years, as well as Arizona’s incredible 100-year history.

The Centenarian Brunch will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Phoenix from 11am – 1pm on February 14, the date that marks Arizona’s 100 th birthday. The celebration will feature performances showcasing the last 100 years of song, dance, and fashion. Valley icon Pat McMahon will serve as Master of Ceremonies at the event. Governor Janice K. Brewer, Secretary of State Ken Bennett and former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor are also scheduled to appear.

Westward Look will join this special gathering of Arizona’s centenarians (of which there are currently more than 700 in the state) and 100-year businesses, including nonprofits, due to its long, rich history in Tucson. Westward Look Resort grew from a hacienda-style family home built in 1912 (less than six months after Arizona became a state), to a thriving dude ranch in the 1940s, to the distinctive 244-room resort it is today. Following a $14 million dollar renovation in 2009, Westward Look offers guests a fusion of tradition and innovation, luxury and history, and serves as a desert oasis for business and recreational travelers. As Westward Look has evolved over the decades, it has remained true to its authentic Southwestern charm and commitment to preserving its pristine Sonoran Desert setting.
